STATE PARK EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT/ DISTRICT WIDE SERVICES / FORT HUMBOLDT STATE HISTORIC PARK

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location for this position will be 3431 Fort Ave. Eureka CA 95503. Under the general direction of the Park Maintenance Chief I.

The position functions as a district-wide heavy equipment operator and provides technical support and coordination of equipment-related work with field staff, maintenance supervisors, and other program managers to ensure effective and consistent districtwide operations.

The incumbent will work independently and collaboratively to operate and transport heavy equipment, support road, trail, and resource maintenance activities, assist with construction and infrastructure projects, perform routine equipment inspections and minor field repairs, and ensure compliance with departmental standards, policies, and safety requirements. The State Park Equipment Operator will support maintenance operations, assist with the protection of park facilities, equipment, and resources, and perform skilled equipment operation necessary to maintain safe, functional park roads, trails, and facilities throughout the district.

Normal duties may require travel and work in other park units within the district and may require working on weekends and holidays for a period of time.
