Bylaws of the Southwest Missouri
Chapter of the Missouri Green Party
Adopted: July 20, 2025

Statement of Purpose
The Green Party of Southwest Missouri strives to transform society in ways that empower
communities and foster a sustainable relationship with the natural world. We promote the
Key Values of the Green Party:
– Grassroots Democracy
– Social Justice and Equitable Opportunity
– Ecological Wisdom
– Non-Violence
– Decentralization
– Community-Based Economics
– Feminism and Gender Equity
– Respect for Diversity
– Personal and Global Responsibility
– Future Focus and Sustainability
– Animal Rights / Biocentrism
We recognize the interconnectedness of environmental destruction and social injustice.
Healing our world and fostering equity requires replacing systems of exploitation with those
rooted in sustainability and cooperation.
Article 1: Name, Mission, and Affiliations
1.1 Name
The name of this organization is the Green Party of Southwest Missouri.
1.2 Affiliation
This chapter is a recognized affiliate of the Missouri Green Party and the Green Party of the
United States.
1.3 Mission and Vision
Our mission is to build an inclusive, just, and ecologically sustainable society by
participating in elections, supporting activism, and promoting Green values.
Article 2: Membership
2.1 Requirements
Any Missouri resident (16+ years old), who agrees with the Key Values, supports the work of
the chapter, and is not a member of another political party or Green chapter, may pay dues
to become an active member.
2.2 Dues
Minimum dues are $20/year for full, voting members; $16/year for
contributors/volunteers; $12/year for donor/support, with flexibility based on ability to
pay. Subsidized dues may be approved by the Treasurer. Those who join before the first of
the year will be pro-rated.
2.3 Rights of Members
Active members may:
– Vote at General Meetings
– Elect and remove officers
– Propose and approve bylaws changes
– Endorse actions and candidates
– Participate in committees
2.4 Removal and Resignation
A member may be removed following written cause, a vote at one General Meeting, and a
second vote at the next. Members may resign in writing to a Coordinating Committee officer.
Article 3: Coordinating Committee
3.1 Composition
The Coordinating Committee includes:
– Coordinator
– Secretary
– Treasurer
– Outreach Officer
– Membership Officer
– Elections Officer
– State Party Representative/Coordinating Committee
3.2 Responsibilities
The CC:
– Coordinates chapter activities and implements decisions
– Makes time-sensitive decisions between meetings
– Prepares and distributes meeting notices, agendas, and minutes
– Reviews and proposes the annual budget
– Approves routine expenses (up to $100 per item, $300/month max)
3.3 Quorum and Decisions
A majority of voting CC members constitutes a quorum. CC Decisions require a simple
majority. Decisions may be overturned by 2/3 vote of a general meeting.
